Advanced Analytic Approaches to Theorize From Qualitative Research

Papers that introduce or improve advanced qualitative analytic techniques for different kinds of theorizing
These techniques are likely embedded in a respective qualitative methodological tradition and relevant research methods literature (e.g., grounded theory, case analysis, narrative analysis, discourse analysis), provide an illustration of the utility of the technique in data analysis, and demonstrate how the technique facilitates theorizing, acknowledging different forms of theorizing or theorizing goals. Ontological and epistemological foundations of the technique need to be explained and limitations acknowledged.
Papers that present techniques of methodological bricolage to advance theorizing
Here we expect authors to review the development of the focal techniques, offer demonstration and utility of their use, and explain how they address specific theorizing needs or theoretical development goals. Again, ontological and epistemological foundations need to be explained and limitations acknowledged.
Papers that more generally advance links between qualitative data analytic approaches and various kinds of theorizing
For instance, we could envision conceptual papers discussing how ontological and epistemological foundations affect theory-method alignment. We could also see papers discussing theorizing and its critical dependence on methods (and vice versa). This type of paper could also include systematic literature reviews of the use of advanced analytic techniques in qualitative research, including highlighting current shortcomings or oversights and developing concrete recommendations and guidelines for improved use of these techniques.
