Sociocultural and situated perspectives on learning (with) computational thinking

细分领域

Thus, the SI will reconceptualize CT from sociocultural and situated points of view. Further, given such sociocultural and situated reconceptualizations, it will investigate practices of learning CT as well as practices of learning topics within in non-computer-science disciplines utilizing CT. The SI fundamentally acknowledges the premise that aptitude in and familiarity with developing, using, and critiquing algorithms is of utmost importance in present-day societies. However, we question mainstream, individualist, renderings of this “aptitude and familiarity” which focus on cognitive, individual traits, rather than on the cultural practices of people in interaction. Thus, the SI will investigate how this “aptitude and familiarity” can be reconceptualized as situated practice involving other people as well as material, digital and hybrid artifacts. More specifically, the SI will contribute new theoretical understandings of CT as a structuring resource for meaning-making and will provide nuanced empirical investigations of CT learning activities as institutionally situated and tool-mediated practices. The overall aspiration is to provide nuanced foundations for situated and sociocultural CT pedagogies.
