Theories of Family Business Research

In line with these thoughts, scholars are invited to prepare 5-page abstracts (exclusive of references, figures, etc.) examining and extending family business research utilizing a variety of theoretical perspectives. For example, stewardship theory, stakeholder theory, property rights theory, agency theory, institutional theory, prospect theory, resource-based theory, justice theories, social exchange theory, family science theory, and network theory, all potentially have unexplored avenues that could inform our understanding of family enterprise.

Likewise, family business as viewed from the broad conceptual lens of fields such as strategic management, entrepreneurship, organizational behavior, economics, psychology, and sociology should further contribute to this goal of integrating new theory with family firm research. The submitted abstracts will be evaluated by the editorial team and select author(s) will be invited to submit full manuscripts based on their ideas to present at the in-person conference described below which is affiliated with this special issue.
