In this issue we seek to explore more closely the role of the family in our society, especially in the light of the technological, lifestyle and economic transformations that characterized the last few decades and new migration patterns. We are particularly interested in papers which address the mechanisms through which the family acts as a way to perpetuate or transform societal norms in relation to gender, identity and sexual orientation. We are also interested in how the family contributes to the adult development of its members, especially in terms of health, educational achievement, and the transmission of non-cognitive skills and individual traits.
